about us

Our Story

We (Francis-Alexandre Arguin and Kaila Bonnell) founded Orbit in 2020. We are avid exercise, sport, and healthy living enthusiasts. We are both McGill alumni with an academic background in Kinesiology, Physical and Health Education. We always wanted to learn how to be happier, healthier, and better humans. Therefore, we are interested in learning about evidence-based knowledge. By collaborating with health professionals from different fields and contexts, we hope to make our content accessible and meaningful for our audience.

Collaborating with health professionals from different backgrounds allows us to address the broad array of interpretations people may have of health. Health cannot be reduced to one definition or one behaviour. Social, historical, political, economical, biological, environmental and many more factors shape a person’s health.

Orbit aims to address numerous health topics to encompass different people’s contexts. It is important to acknowledge that we do not aim to create a moral imperative to live a certain way. Our objective is to present reliable information that allows readers to think about how it applies to their reality, and ultimately come up with conclusions of their own.

Our Vision

For researchers: By providing an outlet for researchers to share their findings, we hope to facilitate the implementation of research findings to community or policy change.

For health professionals: By empowering, uniting and providing multidisciplinary health resources to health professionals, we hope to encourage the adoption of an interdisciplinary approach in their health praxis. We hope to address the complexity and the multiplicity of spheres that affect the health of the people with whom they work. Rather than addressing health through the lens of one domain, we hope to encourage health professionals to see people with whom they work as a whole.

For people interested in our content: By challenging a wide array of health myth, we hope to combat the spread of health misinformation. Also, by writing about health in a critical way, we hope to help people understand the complexity of one’s health, that cannot be reduced to their behaviours

Our Mission

Orbitexercise.com is an online resource for people working or studying in health-related fields and people wanting to learn more about health-related topics. Orbit aims to:

1. Provide an outlet for researchers* to share their findings with the community (i.e. knowledge translation).

2. Acknowledge the socio-cultural determinants of health when writing about  different health topics.

3. Educate the public by translating knowledge from high quality research papers into accessible articles.

4. Provide multidisciplinary health resources to health professionals**.

5. Unite health professionals* to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between health sectors.

*We define ‘”researchers” as any graduate student or professor researching within any health-related field.

**We define “health professional” as anybody working in a health-related field. We do not target one specific health domain as we believe that all domains combined allow the patient or student to be seen as a whole.
